Admission Requirements
Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 from English 1020E or 1022E or 1024E or 1035E or 1036E or both of English 1027F/G and 1028F/G or English 1901E, with a mark of at least 60%. Students should consult with the Department prior to admission.

2.0 courses from: English 2307E, 2308E, 2309E, 2310E. (Students who have not taken English 1022E must take English 2307E.)
1.0 course taken before fourth year from: English 2200F/G, 2210F/G, 2220F/G, 2230F/G, 2240F/G, 2250F/G.
1.0 course from: English 3001, 3012, 3115E, 3116E.
2.0 courses from: English 3224E, 3228F/G, 3334E, 3335E, 3336F/G, 3444E, 3445E, 3446F/G, 3555E, 3557F/G, 3665E, 3775E, 3891F/G or with Department permission, 3667F/G, 3777F/G.
1.0 course from: English 2400E, 2420E, 3226E, 3227E, 3556E, 3666F/G or 3776F/G, or the former 2440E.
1.0 course from: English 3669E, 3700E, 3880F/G, 3882F/G, 3886F/G.
1.0 course from: English at the 2200 level and above. Up to 1.0 essay course may be substituted from any 2000-2199 level English course. (Students are strongly encouraged to take either English 3554E or 3557F/G.)
Note: English 2017 and Speech 2001 may not be counted toward the Specialization in English. French or a foreign language is recommended for students intending to apply to graduate schools or professional programs.
