The Honors Specialization in Foods and Nutrition program is accredited by the professional association, Dietitians of Canada (DC), and prepares graduates for application to a dietetic internship/practicum experience that leads to certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the professional regulating body, the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO). Students take courses designed to meet the accreditation requirements of DC for dietetic internship placement. Completion of the Honors Specialization in Foods and Nutrition does not guarantee a dietetic internship placement.
Graduates also may pursue post-graduate study in areas such as Health Administration, Food Science, and Community Nutrition.
Students are encouraged to seek academic counselling early in the program, especially if they intend to combine the Honors Specialization with a Major or Minor in a complementary field.
