| Description: This course explores the relationship between language and sex/gender systems from a critical linguistic perspective. Areas investigated include: language and gender stereotypes; gender variation in language usage; power and women’s status; and male vs. female communicative styles in different contexts. | Description: A diachronic and synchronic study of the Indo-European languages with emphasis on the Comparative Method and typology, primarily of the languages spoken in Europe, both Western and Eastern.
