PROBLEMS OF GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT


A critical comparative examination of theories of global development and how they exist in place. The course applies an interdisciplinary perspective to examine specific aspects of global development including colonialism, poverty, economic growth, climate change, human mobilities and the tensions associated in addressing them.

Prerequisite(s): Any one of the following: GSI 1023F/G; GSI 2001F/G; Anthropology 2203F/G; Anthropology 2281F/G; GSWS 1022F/G; Geography and Environment 1500F/G; Health Sciences 1001A/B, Health Sciences 1002A/B, and Health Sciences 1110A/B; Indigenous Studies 1020E; Interdisciplinary Studies 1000F/G; Political Science 1022F/G; SJPS 1025F/G; or permission of the Centre for Global Social Innovation.
