Progression Requirements Basic Cardiac Life Support Each student is required to obtain a valid certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support by end of the Fall term, Year I.
Non-Credit Courses In addition to the credit courses, students are required to attend the non-credit courses.
Progression Without Condition To complete the work of First Year and be permitted to register in Second Year, a student must:
(a) satisfactorily complete the prescribed assignments for both credit and non-credit courses, and
(b) obtain at least a pass level of performance (60%) in each didactic course, and
(c) obtain a grade of Satisfactory in each clinical course.
DDS ITD Program students must complete all academic requirements for the Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) within three consecutive years (thirty-six months) from the date of original registration.
Conditional Progression A student may be given permission by the Council of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry to progress or continue in the DDS ITD Program with conditions as noted below:
(a) a student who fails a didactic course may be granted a supplemental examination in that course provided the student’s overall average in all didactic courses of that year is at least 65%
(b) all conditions imposed on a student at the conclusion of First Year must be removed prior to registration in the Second Year of the program
(c) no supplemental examinations will be permitted in a clinical course
Unsatisfactory Standing A student shall be considered to have failed the year if the student:
a) fails to attain a grade of “Pass” in a clinical course
b) attains less than a pass level of performance (60%) in a supplemental examination; and c) fails to complete satisfactorily all assignments of First Year courses by the end of the academic year (June 30)
Readmission A student who voluntarily withdraws from a specific year of instruction before the end of the Fall Term may apply, by May 1 next following, to the Dean for readmission. In such event, the student must follow the progression schedule for the year in which they are enrolled.
Readmission to the qualifying program following withdrawn for unsatisfactory standing is seldom permitted, and then only under extenuating circumstances.
Reports At the end of each academic year, a report will be mailed by the Office of the Registrar’s Office to each student showing the numerical (percentage) grade achieved in each course. The key to grades is:

Reports will also show quartile standing (an indication of class ranking). Exemption from Courses No exemptions from courses will be permitted to students registered in the qualifying program.
