MAJOR IN MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC INTEREST (MPI)
Enrolment in all modules in Media and the Public Interest is limited. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that students wishing to enter any Module in Media and The Public Interest will be offered enrolment.
Admission Requirements
Completion of second-year requirements in the Media, Information and Technoculture (MIT) program with a minimum average of at least 70% and no failures.
Module
2.5 courses required in second year: MIT 201F/G, 202F/G, 203a/b, 204F/G, Writing 121F/G 1.5 courses: MPI 390F/G, 391F/G, 490F/G 1.0 course selected from a designated range of "MPI appropriate" MIT electives, e.g., MIT 247F/G, 248F/G, 255F/G, 264F/G, 320F/G, 325F/G, 350F/G, 351F/G, and special offerings as available 1.0 additional MIT course at the 100 level or above* 1.0 course from: Social Justice and Peace Studies 200E, 300F, 301G, 400E (offered by King’s University College)
* A maximum of 1.0 course at the 100 level or above may be substituted from other offerings relevant to the study of media and the public interest. Specific examples of such courses are available from the MIT Undergraduate Academic Advisor. Such courses must be approved by the MIT Undergraduate Academic Advisor in consultation with the Associate Dean. Note: Students who are intending to pursue graduate studies are recommended to take MIT 301a/b.
Progression Requirements
In addition to the general university requirements for the Four-Year Bachelor degree Minimum cumulative average of 68% for the module In each academic year, no more than 1.0 unsatisfactory attempt in 5.0 courses
