| Description: An introduction to the relation of social movements, new and old, to communication systems and media practices. | Description: This course examines the definition, history, theory and practice of “alternative” media, and its differences from and relationship to “mainstream” corporate and state supported media. | Description: This course combines work in the field of public interest media, participation in a special seminar and theoretically informed paper or project based on the practicum experience. | Prerequisite(s): Limited to students in the fourth year of a Major or Honors Specialization in Media and the Public Interest. | A maximum of 15 hours of class time and a minimum of forty hours placement, 0.5 course. | back to top |
