| Description: Taught by several Law Faculty members, this introduction to Canadian law covers the basic legal areas of most relevance in modern society and also focuses on current controversial issues. | Description: An introduction to the nature of law and the basic structures and processes of the Canadian legal system. Topics will include the social role of the legal profession, family law, criminal law and legal controls on the exercise of state power. Limited enrolment. | Prerequisite(s): Registration in third or fourth year of a program other than Law or permission of the Faculty. | 2 lecture hours, 1 tutorial hour, 1.0 course. | Note: Law 340 is not intended as preparation for the Faculty of Law.
