FACULTY OF SCIENCE
A first year program that includes Chemistry 020 with a minimum mark of 60%, or 023, with a minimum mark of 70%; Physics 020, 022, 024 or 025; Mathematics 030, with a minimum mark of 80%, or Calculus 050a/b plus one of 051a/b or 081a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026.
All students must consult the Chemistry Department prior to admission to this program.
Courses offered by the Department usually follow a sequential form and often require some background in Mathematics and Physics. For these reasons, many senior courses have definite prerequisites and corequisites. Students are advised to study these carefully.
To fulfil, in part, the requirements for a BSc in this program, students must complete a minimum of five and one-half senior courses in Chemistry, which must include Chemistry 251, 253, 254, 322, and two of Chemistry 321b, 323a, 324a and 378b.
Note: Applied Mathematics 290a or the former Applied Mathematics 218a is required for those students who want to maintain the option of entering the 4-year honors degree program after the second year.
The Area of Concentration will consist of the 5.5 senior-level Chemistry courses which are specified in second and third year
