Admission Requirements
Completion of a 3-year BSc Biology and Environmental Science program, with a minimum average of 70% in all area of concentration courses and no mark less than 60% in any of these. Students who do not fulfill the requirements specified for admission may be allowed to proceed to this honors degree only with the special permission of the Coordinators of the Honors Biology Program and the Environmental Science Program.
Fourth Year
Environmental Science 494F/G Either 1.0 senior course from Groups C, D or E (as described in the three-year BSc Environmental Science program), or Environmental Science 350F/G, if not already taken, and a senior half-course from groups C, D, or E. 3.5 full-course equivalents selected from the following: Biology 204a, 217b, 284a, 304F/G, 320Z, 321F (or the former 203F), Biology 327b (or the former 213b), Biology 328a, Medical Biophysics 331G (formerly Biology 331G)), Biology 332a, 335b, 336F, 345F, 346b, 351a/b, 355b, 402a, 403a, 404b, 405b, 408G, 418a (formerly Plant Sciences 402a, 403a, 404b, 452b, 408a, 418b), Biology 434b*, 436F/G*, 441F, (formerly Zoology 434b, 436G, 441b), Biology 450F/G*, 451F/G (formerly Plant Sciences 450a and 451b and Zoology 450a/b and 451a/b)))), Biology 452a, 453b, 457Z, 458Z, (formerly Zoology 453b, 420y, 421y), Biology 459F (or the former Biology 444a, or Zoology 444a), Biology 495, the former Biology 216b; the former Microbiology and Immunology 359b (formerly Biology 359b), Pharmacology and Toxicology 355a/b, 356a/b (or the former Biology 362), Biology 366b, 392a, 393G, 491E, the former Biology 222b, 319a, 370b, Medical Biophysics 467a/b, (formerly Biophysics 467a/b) Microbiology and Immunology 450b, Pharmacology and Toxicology 460a/b, 463a, (formerly Pharmacology 460a/b, 463a/b). The fourth year program must include 2 full courses or equivalents at the 400-level, 1.5 laboratory courses, at least two full-course equivalent from among courses offered by the Department of Biology. Students must also include at least one 400-level half-course requiring substantial communication skills, which must be chosen from those courses in the list above that are marked with an *. All proposed Honors Biology with Environmental Science programs must be approved by the Coordinators of the Honors Biology Program and the Environmental Science Program, respectively.
