Students who have been awarded a professional degree by this or another accredited university may be granted advanced standing for a maximum of ten courses toward fullfillment of graduation requirements for a 15-course BA or BSc degree, a 4-year honors BA or BSc degree. Applicants who have already received a BFA degree are ineligible for advanced standing toward a 15-course BA degree with an area of concentration in Visual Arts or a 4-year degree in Honors Visual Arts.

Concurrent

Students registered in an undergraduate program, who have completed five courses, may apply for permission to register concurrently in a second undergraduate degree program, with the proviso that no more than one degree may be a 3-year or honors BA or BSc degree (exception BA in Honors Business Administration). In a session during which a student is taking any courses toward the professional degree, tuition fees applicable to the professional program will be assessed and primary registration will reflect the constituency offering the professional degree.

Students must apply through the Dean of their home Faculty for permission to register concurrently in a second undergraduate degree program.

Registration and progression in the concurrent program of study must be approved by the deans of both faculties. A complete statement by the Dean of the Faculty offering the BA or BSc degree program must be forwarded to the student with a copy to the Registrar's Office specifying:

  1. The courses that may be credited toward the second degree to a maximum of ten, including no more than five courses from faculties other than Arts, Health Sciences, Information and Media Studies, Science and Social Science. Students registered in a professional program concurrently or sequentially with a BA or BSc program in Kinesiology may receive credit in up to ten courses toward the BA or BSc in Kinesiology, including no more than five courses from faculties other than Arts, Health Sciences, Information and Media Studies, Science, and Social Science.
  2. The number and kind of courses required to complete graduation requirements for the second degree, at least five of which must be senior full-course equivalents that fulfil the requirement for an area of concentration.

In the case of professional programs for which normal admission requires one or two years of study in a BA or BSc degree program, the courses taken as part of such a program must be included among the ten-course maximum.

Note: Students are encouraged to obtain academic counselling from the Dean of each Faculty during the course of their concurrent degree program studies. Students who fail to meet the progression requirements of either program will be required to withdraw from the double undergraduate degree program.
