APPLICANTS FROM COLLEGES OF APPLIED ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY (CAAT)
Applicants who have completed a two-year or three-year CAAT program with a cumulative average of "C+" (2.3 g.p.a.) or better, or who have a "C+" average in the last two semesters of a two-year or three-year CAAT program, may be considered for admission to first-year of an appropriate program, except that applicants who have achieved a cumulative average of "B-" (2.5 g.p.a.) or better in the first year of a General Arts and Science program from a CAAT may be considered for admission to first-year. Applicants who have completed a three-year CAAT program with a cumulative average of "B" (2.7 g.p.a.), or have a "B" average or better in the last two semesters of a three-year CAAT program may be considered for admission and for transfer credit to a maximum of five courses in Arts, Science and Social Science or the first year of a professional program. Where academic content is equivalent to that of a three-year diploma or upon consultation with the appropriate Faculty, applicants presenting a two-year diploma from a College of Applied Arts and Technology with a minimum average of "B" (2.7 g.p.a.) may be considered for transfer credit up to a maximum of five courses. - Where necessary, the grades for CAATs whose marking schemes differ from that of this University shall be translated into the equivalent grades of The University of Western Ontario and admissibility assessed in those terms.
- Applicants who have completed a three-year CAAT diploma program in either Environmental Technology or Science Laboratory Technology (Fanshawe College), with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, will be considered for admission into either three- or four-year degrees, taking specific modules in Environmental Science which may be combined with specific modules in Chemistry, and for transfer credit to a maximum of 9.0 courses. - On the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Office of the Registrar may grant transfer credit for up to a maximum of nine courses to students admitted to the undergraduate program in Engineering Science from three-year technology programs who hold a cumulative average of "A" (3.5 g.p.a.) or better.
- Normally only those applicants who have completed a three-year technology program will be considered for admission to the Engineering Science Program. Notwithstanding, students who applied to Engineering Science from other college programs are required to have the equivalent of OAC/Grade 12 U prerequisites for the Engineering Science Program, otherwise upgrading will be required.
- Applicants who have been exempted from Year I of a CAAT program following Ontario Grade 12 or its equivalent, and who present proof of completion of a two year diploma, are eligible for admission if they obtain an overall average of "B" (2.7 g.p.a.) or better. Note: It is understood that applicants who do not satisfy this guideline will be denied admission UNLESS eligible under Mature Applicants guidelines.
Applicants who have been exempted from Year I of a CAAT program following Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent, and who present proof of completion of a three year diploma, are eligible for transfer credit under Senate regulations for CAAT students. - Exceptional cases will be considered by the dean.
Engineering Applicants
CAAT applicants for admission to first year of Engineering Science should have completed a two-year technician or a three-year technology program. Applicants who have completed a three-year technology program with a cumulative average of "A" (3.5 g.p.a.) or better may, on the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering, be granted transfer credit for a maximum of 9 courses. Applicants who have completed a two-year technician or a three-year technology program with a cumulative average of 2.7 GPA may, on the recommendation of the Faculty of Engineering, be granted transfer credit for a maximum of 6 courses.
