Comparative Literature and Culture 3345F/G

TWENTIETH AND TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY LITERATURE AND CULTURE


The course explores modernist, avant-garde and postmodernist literatures, arts and theories, and discusses topics such as high-brow culture, political aesthetics, kitsch, and pop, from Rilke, Woolf and GarcĂ­a Lorca to Nabokov, Pynchon and Pelevin; Chaplin to Tarantino; Braque to de Kooning; and Tzara and Breton to Kristeva and Jameson.

Prerequisite(s): World Literatures and Cultures 1030, or CLC 1010, or CLC 1040 or CLC 1050E or permission of the Department. Pre-or Corequisite(s): CLC 2200F/G, CLC 3300F/G, or permission of the Department.
