This course examines the history and representation of genocide and state violence, including media coverage, truth and reconciliation processes, the politics of commemoration, and atrocity prevention. Case studies include the Canadian residential school system, the Holocaust, the Salvadoran Civil War, and the Rwandan Genocide.
