Effective September 2013:
Grade 12U and M Courses Required
- English ENG4U
- Biology SBI4U
Grade 12U and M Courses Recommended
- A grade 12 U-Level Math and Grade 11 or 12 U-level Physics are recommended.
- It is strongly recommended that students interested in the BSc take an additional Science course from: Chemistry (SCH4U) (strongly recommended), Calculus & Vectors (MCV4U) or Computer & Information Science (ICS4U)
In addition to the required Biology and English courses as stated above, a high school background comprised of Physics and Math will provide a stronger academic background for both BA and BSc Kinesiology students in preparation for senior Kinesiology subjects in biomechanics, research methods and statistics.
Some of the first-year Science courses* that students may select in preparation for second year of the Honors Specialization in Kinesiology- BSc may require Grade 12U Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), Grade 12U Chemistry (SCH4U), Grade 12U Math of Data Management (MDM4U), and/or Grade 12U Physics (SPH4U). *[For the list of appropriate first year science courses refer to the Honors Specialization in Kinesiology-BSc section of this calendar.]
It is strongly recommended that students who wish to pursue the Honors Specialization in Kinesiology – BSc and those students in Kinesiology wishing to select additional Science modules from the Faculty of Science, have a very strong science background from high school. Refer to Western’s science courses for specific high school prerequisites.

For students admitted September 2012 and earlier:
- Six Grade 12U or M-level credits which must include:
- Grade 12U (ENG4U) English.
- Grade 12U (SBI4U) Biology.
Note:
- Students interested in the BSc program are encouraged to select one Grade 12 U-level Math course.
- Advanced Functions (MHF4U) is strongly recommended.
- Physics (SPH4U) or Physics (SPH3U) are also strongly recommended.
- In addition to the required Biology course as stated
above, a high school background comprising a cross-section of Science
courses such as Chemistry, Physics and Math will provide a stronger
academic background in preparation for senior Kinesiology subjects in
biomechanics and exercise physiology. It is strongly recommended that
students who wish to pursue the Honors Specialization in Kinesiology -
BSc and those students in Kinesiology wishing to select Additional
Science Modules from the Faculty of Science, have a very strong science
background from high school. Refer to the UWO science courses for
specific high school prerequisites.
-
Some of the first year Science courses* that
students may select in preparation for second year of the Honors
Specialization in Kinesiology - BSc may require Grade 12U Advanced
Functions (MHF4U), Grade 12U Calculus and Vectors, Chemistry Grade 12U
(MCV4U), or Grade 12U Geometry and Discrete Mathematics (MGA4U). *[For
