The Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management is designed to provide students with the practical and applied knowledge and skills required to manage the occupational health and safety function in the workplace. The Diploma will consist of 7.5 courses, comprised of 10 diploma-credit half-courses and 1 practicum session. Students will be required to have completed a series of specified prerequisite degree-credit courses in Health Sciences, Administrative and Commercial Studies, Statistics and Business, or equivalents, in order to be considered for admission to the Diploma program.
Enrollment will be limited and competitive, and will be determined on a case by case basis by the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Social Science together with Continuing Studies at Western.
Students in the program will be required to maintain a minimum average of 70% in all courses in the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management program, with no mark lower than 60%.
All students will be admitted to the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management according to the policies and guidelines for admission to the University. Non-UWO students must first apply to The University of Western Ontario through the Ontario University Application Centre in Guelph, Ontario. Prospective students must also complete the application form for the Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management provided by Continuing Studies at Western. Application forms are available through Continuing Studies at Western. Students who are currently enrolled at UWO are only required to complete Continuing Studies at Western application form. Applicants from universities other than UWO may apply to transfer up to 2.0 courses.
