The Certificate in Community Development is offered through the Department of Sociology and Brescia University College. Students in professional programs may pursue the Certificate concurrently with their degree program. All Community Development courses may count towards the student's undergraduate program. This program is comprised of required courses, including a practicum course, equivalent to three courses, and two optional courses to be selected from an approved interdisciplinary list.
Admission Requirements
Completion of
Sociology 1020 or
1021E, with an average of at least 60% in the course. It is not available to students registered in New Academic Choices.
Effective September 1, 2011:
To be admitted into the Certificate in Community Development, the student is required to complete and submit a Community Development application form by April 15 before the beginning of the program. Enrollment in this program is limited. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that applicants will be admitted. Priority will be given to students already registered at Brescia.
Progression Requirements
Students must obtain an average of 70% in the required courses, with no course under 60%.
