Communication Sciences and Disorders 4411F/G - Introduction to Speech and Language Disorders
A survey course focusing on the incidence, etiology, and symptomatology of speech and language disorders in children and adults. Designed to provide students with a general understanding of the types of speech, voice, and language disorders identified and treated by speech-language pathologists.

Communication Sciences and Disorders 4412A/B - Introduction to Audiology
A survey of the discipline of audiology designed to introduced students in audiology and speech-language pathology to the diagnostic, (re)habilitative, and educational roles played by audiologists. The course will address the basic audiological test battery. The course provides an introduction to methods of audiological assessment including pure-tone and speech audiometry, impedance interpretation of basic audiological tests will be addressed.

The study of the parameters of acoustics and their psychological correlates. Topics include acoustics, anatomy and physiology, physiology, thresholds, masking, loudness, pitch, binaural phenomena, and speech intelligibility.

Communication Sciences and Disorders 4423A/B - Clinical Phonetics
Study of the production of speech sounds. Special emphasis is placed on the development of phonetic transcription skills and the use of those skills in analyzing and describing the speech of young children and phonologically-impaired children. Includes an introduction to phonological intervention.
