MAJOR IN SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
Admission Requirements
Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 course from Spanish 200, 200w/x, 222E, 030 or 030w/x (or the former Spanish 002, 002w/x, 020, 020w/x, or 022E), with a mark of at least 60%. Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended. For students who begin Spanish at university and complete Spanish 030 or 030w/x in Year 1 who intend to enroll in the Major in Spanish Language and Literature, it is recommended that they take Spanish 200 or 200w/x in a Summer Session or consult the Department concerning an alternative.

2.5 courses normally taken in second year: Spanish 202F/G, 203F/G, 204F/G, 300 0.5 course normally taken in third year: Spanish 205F/G 0.5 from: Spanish 320F/G, 402F/G, 404F/G (Medieval Spanish Literature) 0.5 from: Spanish 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, 402F/G, 404F/G (Spanish Golden Age Literature) 0.5 from: Spanish 331F/G, 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G, 402F/G, 404F/G (Modern Spanish Literature) 0.5 from: Spanish 330F/G, 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, 403F/G, 405F/G (Spanish-American Literature) 1.0 additional course in Spanish at the 200 level or above
Notes: With the permission of the Department, additional Spanish courses at the 400 level (Special Topics) may be used to fulfill requirements for the Literature courses listed above (Medieval Spanish, Spanish Golden Age, Modern Spanish, Spanish-American). With permission of the Dept., Spanish 101 with a final mark of at least 80% can be counted toward the Major in place of Spanish 218F/G and 219F/G.
