BACHELOR OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND COMMERCIAL STUDIES (BACS)
The Bachelor of Administrative and Commercial Studies degree at Brescia provides students with a four-year career-oriented program, combining administration and commerce courses with a broad background in the social sciences. The BACS degree at Brescia includes four specializations: Finance and Administration, Finance and Administration with French, Organizational and Human Resources, and Organizational and Human Resources with French.
Admission, Progression, and Graduation Requirements
Students may apply to enter BACS when they apply for admission to Brescia University College. Because enrolment is limited, possession of the University's minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. Please note the Mathematics and English requirements in the ADMISSION section. Note: Students admitted without Ontario Secondary School credits must complete Grade 12U Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus or Mathematics 012a/b or equivalent, prior to registering in certain Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics courses. See course descriptions in the UNDERGRADUATE COURSE INFORMATION Section. Transfer students who have been admitted to Brescia University College with advanced standing, or students who are currently registered in another module at Brescia, may also request permission to register in BACS. Brescia students wishing to enter BACS after first, second, or third year must have achieved an overall average of 70% in their last 5.0 courses and a cumulative average of 65%. Transfer students must have completed successfully the equivalent of the BACS first year Mathematics requirement, Economics 020 (Finance and Administration Specialization only), and 1.0 additional course in Social Science. Permission for such students to enter BACS may be granted by the Academic Dean at Brescia. Part-time students must complete the Mathematics requirements noted in the ADMISSION section and 5.0 university courses before requesting admission to BACS. Students interested in transferring into BACS are advised to consult an academic counsellor at Brescia. Students who fail to meet the progression requirements governing BACS will normally be expected to complete 5.0 additional courses in another module before applying for readmission into BACS. BACS students must meet the following BACS degree requirements: - BACS is a 20.0 course degree. Students must satisfy the requirements of the four-year Bachelor degree in addition to the higher progression and graduation standards required for the BACS degree. (Note in particular the essay, breadth and residency requirements.)
- Once in BACS, students must maintain a cumulative average of 65%,with no sessional average (including summer session) less than 60% in order to remain in BACS.
- Students must achieve a graduating average of 65% in the 20.0 courses toward the BACS degree. Students with advanced standing must achieve an overall average of 65% on courses completed at Western and its affiliated university colleges.
Module Combinations
BACS Specializations may be combined with certain Minor modules offered by other departments. For more information, please consult the Registrar’s Office at Brescia University College. All degrees are conferred by The University of Western Ontario.
