Students interested in the Medical Sciences degrees may apply for the Biological and Medical Sciences program in First Year. Following successful completion of the appropriate first-year courses, students may then proceed into either a Biological or Medical Sciences module.
Four BMSc Degrees are offered:
- BMSc Specialization (Non-Honors)
- BMSc Honors Specialization
- BMSc Honors (Discipline Specific)
- Combined Honors BMSc/Honors HBA.
Medical Science Disciplines are: Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Medical Biophysics, Microbiology and Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Physiology.
The Honors Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree must include either:
one of the following Honors Specializations: Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, Medical Sciences, Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physiology, Physiology and Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pathology. OR two of the following Majors: Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, Medical Sciences, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physiology.
The Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Four-Year) degree must include either:
- one of the following Specializations: Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, Medical Sciences, Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physiology, Physiology and Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pathology.
OR - two of the following Majors: Anatomy and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Biophysics, Medical Sciences, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physiology.

Academic Counselling
Room C111, Molecular Biology Laboratory Building (MBL), Tel: (519) 850-2922 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm Students with problems or concerns about academic or other matters, as indicated in the Academic Information chapter, should consult an Academic Counsellor in the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Science (Room 191, Western Science Centre) or the BMSc Program Counsellor (Room C5, Molecular Biology Laboratory).
Science Internship Program
The Science Internship Program includes a series of preparatory sessions, an 8-16 month practical career-related experience in an employment setting, and a post-internship component. All students enrolled in the 3rd year of a 4-year undergraduate Science or Medical Science Honors Specialization, Specialization, or in a Major + Major combination [where at least one of the Majors is in Science or Medical Science] or students who are enrolled in the 3rd year of a 4-year BSc or BSc (Hons) program, are eligible to enrol in the Science Internship Program, if they satisfy the eligibility requirements.
