First year program in Arts, Science or Social Science including Sociology 020 or 021E and four other courses as principal courses. At the end of the first year, students must have an overall average of 70% with no mark less than 60%. Students may be admitted to the Honors Sociology program after their second or third year provided they have all of the following:
Students are encouraged to enrol as honors students as soon as they are eligible. It is expected that Honors Sociology students will take their principal courses at Western: the former Sociology 230, 240Eor 270a/band 271a/b,231, 232E, 233, 234E, 237, 239, 300a/b, 302a/b and 404F/G.
It is strongly recommended that students complete at least a half-course in Mathematics before registering in Sociology 231. The mathematics can be one of the following or their equivalents: a secondary school mathematics credit (Calculus, or Algebra and Geometry, or Finite Mathematics); or, at university, Mathematics 012a/b or 017a/b.
