In the context of pressures on traditional Islam this course deals with selected issues such as: "clash of civilizations?" – the concept and practice of Jihad; Islam in 'Western' media; the West in 'Islamic' media; Islam in Europe and North America; ethnicity and political Islam; and women and Islam.
