HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION Admission Requirements
Students may apply to enter the Honors Specialization or Specialization in a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS) when they apply for admission to the University. Because enrolment is limited, possession of the University's minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. Ontario high school graduates must complete an OSSD including:
completion of six Grade 12U and/or M courses, including English (ENG4U) with a minimum grade of 70%, Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus (MCB4U), and one of either Math of Data Management (MDM4U) or Geometry and Discrete Math(MGA4U), or equivalent. To enter the Honors Specialization in BMOS after first year or second year, students must have an overall average of 70% on the last 5.0 courses and a cumulative average of at least 70%. All courses in the module must be completed in order to graduate with the Honors Specialization.

Progression Requirements
To remain in the BMOS Honors degree, students must maintain a minimum cumulative (modular) average of 70%, with no course mark less than 60% in the Honors Specialization module, and obtain a passing grade in each option. In addition, students must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 65% for all courses, with no sessional average (including summer session) less than 60%.

Admission, Progression, and Graduation Requirements for BACHELOR OF MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL STUDIES (BMOS) Four-Year Degree
Students may apply to enter BMOS when they apply for admission to Huron University College. Because enrolment is limited, possession of the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission. Please note the Mathematics and English requirements in the ADMISSION section.

Note: Students admitted without Ontario Secondary School credits must complete Grade 12U Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus or Mathematics 012a/b or equivalent, prior to registering in certain Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics courses. See course descriptions in the COURSE INFORMATION Section.

Transfer students who have been admitted to Huron University College with advanced standing, or students who are currently registered in another module at the University, may also request permission to register in BMOS. UWO students wishing to enter BMOS after first, second, or third year must have achieved an overall average of 70% in their last 5.0 courses and a cumulative average of 65%. Transfer students must have completed successfully the equivalent of the BMOS first year Mathematics requirement, Economics 020 (Finance and Administration Specialization only), and 1.0 additional course in Social Science. Permission for such students to enter BMOS may be granted by the Dean of Arts and Social Science at Huron University College. Part-time students must complete the Mathematics requirements noted in the ADMISSION section and 5.0 university courses before requesting admission to BMOS. Students interested in transferring into BMOS are advised to consult the Senior Academic Advisor. Students who fail to meet the progression requirements governing BMOS will normally be expected to complete 5.0 additional courses in another module before applying for readmission into BMOS.

BMOS students must meet the following BMOS degree requirements:
  • BMOS is a 20.0 course degree. Students must satisfy the requirements of the four-year Bachelor degree in addition to the higher progression and graduation standards required for the BMOS degree. (Note in particular the essay, breadth and residency requirements.)

BMOS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The BMOS Internship Program includes a series of preparatory sessions, an 8 to 16 month internship in a relevant employment setting, and a post- internship component. All students enrolled in the 3rd year of a BMOS Specialization, or in a BMOS Honors Double Major combination [where one of the Majors is in Management and Organizational Studies], are eligible to apply to the BMOS Internship Program. The minimum academic admission requirement is a 70% average in 2nd year and the successful completion of Business Administration 2257.

Students will be required to attend all preparatory workshops. An administration fee is payable upon appointment to an internship placement. Students who have qualified to receive a continuing scholarship for the academic year during which they participate in the BMOS Internship Program are permitted to defer receipt of the scholarship for one year. Participation in the internship placement will delay graduation by one year.

A Pass/Fail grade will be assigned. Credit for the internship cannot be counted toward any degree or program. Successful completion will be recognized at the head of a student's degree transcript through the addition of the words “With Internship”. Interested students should apply to the BMOS Internship Coordinator by October of their 3rd academic year. Please note that, unfortunately, due to government regulations, international students are not able to participate in this program at this time
