WESTERN/FANSHAWE COLLABORATIVE DEGREE/DIPLOMA IN MEDIA THEORY AND PRODUCTION

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program is through the University of Western Ontario and requires meeting the standards of admission to the University. Student must enroll at the University for their first year as MTP-designated students.

Forty students will be admitted to the second year of the program. Attainment of the minimum requirement does not guarantee admission. Entry to the program is competitive on the basis of academic achievement. Students will be admitted to one of the program’s four streams: Journalism-Broadcast, Broadcasting-Television, Broadcasting-Radio, or Multimedia Design and Production. Students will rank their preferences but are not guaranteed to receive their first choice rankings.

Students who have applied for the collaborative program directly in first year will be given priority for admission to the second year. If the collaborative program is not filled for Year 2 from the MTP- designated students in first year, other Year 1 MIT students will be considered for admission.

Structure of the Program

In the first year of the program, students are registered in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies as MTP-designated students. In the second, third, and fourth years, students are registered in the collaborative program and are registered in courses at both institutions. Upon successful completion of the collaborative program, students will receive both a BA in Media, Information and Technoculture from Western and a diploma from Fanshawe College in their chosen stream.
