The Occupational Therapy program is an entry level professional master's program of academic courses and fieldwork placements. The program takes two calendar years of full-time study and the degree awarded is a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy MSc(OT). The curriculum is designed to promote scholarship and self-directed, life-long learning, integrating the theoretical content and practice skills essential for the education of a skilled, evidence-based occupational therapist. Occupational Therapists work with clients who are unable to fully participate in their daily activities due to physical, emotional, or cognitive impairments. They assist these individuals to engage in those activities which have meaning and enhance the quality of their lives, and to become full participants in their communities.

Requirements for admission include completion of a four-year degree or equivalent, with a minimum standing of B in the last 10 full courses taken. A three-year degree with additional courses, for a total credit or 20 full courses (the equivalent of a four-year degree), will also be considered. Thirteen of the courses must be at a senior level (100-499), with three to four of these normally at the 300 or 400 level.

The following prerequisite courses must also be completed at a North American university:

One of: UWO Biology 022, 023 or the former Biology 026, or equivalent full course (from a Biology Department) with a minimum grade of 65%.
One of: UWO Human Physiology 020, 021 or 130, or equivalent half or full course with a minimum grade of 65%

Applicants for the Occupational Therapy program will be considered for admission based on their academic record in the last two years of their undergraduate degree (10 full or equivalent courses).

A 500-word written submission discussing how past experience/activities has prepared the applicant to address a current issue in occupational therapy will also be required at the time of application.

The application (COMPASS.ORPAS) and complete instructions are available on-line through the Ontario Rehabilitation Sciences Programs Application Service (ORPAS), a service of the Ontario Universities' Application Centre.

Licensing is a provincial matter. The governing and certification body is the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists. Applicants for registration must have successfully completed all academic and fieldwork requirements at a university program in Occupational Therapy and passed the National Certification Examination.
