HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN COMPARATIVE PHYSIOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including Biology 022 or 023, Chemistry 020 or 023, plus 1.0 additional course, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

Physics 028a/b (or 020, or 024, or the former Physics 022 or 025)
1.0 course from: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, 091a/b, Mathematics 028a/b, 030, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b. If not completed in first year, the Mathematics requirement must be completed by the end of second year.

10.0 courses:

0.5 course: Biochemistry 280a
4.0 courses: Biology 260a/b, 272b, 281b, 282b, 283a, 286a, 290F/G, 325F/G
1.0 course from: Chemistry 213a/b and 223b, 273a and 283G or the former 253
0.5 course: Biology 244a/b, Statistical Sciences 222a/b. Students may substitute Statistical Sciences 135 or Psychology 281 for this 0.5 course.
0.5 course: Biology 410F/G
3.5 courses from: Biology 240F/G, 271a, 316a, 351a/b, 360a/b, 375a/b, 408G, 411F/G, 423F/G, 450F/G, 491E, 499E, or the former 328a, 426F, 451F/G, Biochemistry 381a, 382b, 400F, 420b, 430b, 440a, Medical Biophysics 331G, Microbiology and Immunology 220a, Pharmacology and Toxicology 355a/b or 356a/b, Physiology 312 (or the former 310), 314a. Students must take at least 2.5 of these courses from the Department of Biology.


Notes
1) If students take Statistical Sciences 135 or Psychology 281 instead of Biology 224a/b or Statistical Sciences 222a/b, the module becomes 10.5 courses.
2) Many 400 level Biology courses require the completion of 1.5 Biology courses at the 300 level or above.
