HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN CELL AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including Biology 022 or 023, Chemistry 020 or 023 plus 1.0 additional course, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

Physics 028a/b (or 020, or 024, or the former Physics 022, or 025)
1.0 course from: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, 091a/b, Mathematics 028a/b, 030, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b. If not completed in first year, the Mathematics requirement must be completed by the end of second year.

0.5 course: Biochemistry 280a
6.5 courses: Biology 281b, 282b, 283a, 286a, 290F/G, 316a, 326F/G, 338a, 395a, 438G, 440G, 496, the former 387F
0.5 course: Chemistry 213a/b
0.5 course: Biology 244a/b, Statistical Sciences 222a/b. Students may substitute Statistical Sciences 135 or Psychology 281 for this 0.5 course.
0.5 course from: Biology 260a/b, 272b
1.5 courses from: Anatomy and Cell Biology 309, 429a or the former 329b, Biochemistry 385a, Biology 445a, 450F/G, 499E, Microbiology and Immunology 221a/b, Pathology 240a, Physiology 314a, Psychology 126a/b, 215a/b, the former Biology 390a, 424b, 451F/G

Notes:

1) Biology 316a and 326F/G must be completed by the end of third year.
2) In addition to the normal progression requirements for Honors Specializations, students must obtain a minimum mark of 70% in each of Biology 282b and 338a in order to progress within the Honors Specialization in Cell and Developmental Biology.
3) If students take Statistical Sciences 135 or Psychology 281 instead of Biology 244a/b or Statistical Sciences 222a/b, the module becomes 10.5 courses.
