The concurrent BESc/LLB program allows students to complete both the BESc degree and the LLB degree in six years, instead of the seven years it takes if the programs are pursued separately.

Successful applicants to concurrent program will enter first year law after completing two years of Engineering. After one year in the Law School, students in the concurrent program will take a combination of Engineering and Law courses in years four, five, and six.

Applicants to the concurrent program will apply at the beginning of the second year of Engineering to the Associate Dean of Engineering Sciences. They will also apply to the Faculty of Law, indicating their intention to pursue the concurrent program. To be eligible for the concurrent program, students must have a cumulative average of 80%, or stand in the top 10% of their class in their Department, in their first two years of Engineering. In addition, candidates must meet the minimum LSAT requirement established by the Law School Admissions Committee.

Once enrolled in the program, students are required to maintain a minimum weighted average of 75% or B, and stand in the top half of the class in their Department. Students who fail to meet these progression requirements will be required to withdraw from the concurrent program. However, if these students have met the progression requirements of the regular program, they will be allowed to proceed to the next year of that program. These student will be allowed to complete both degrees, but will do so by completing one program and then pursuing the second program.

Students must take first year Engineering program.

Students must take required courses in Engineering.

All students must take first year Law.

Students will take an approved mix of of required and elective courses from both the Faculty of Law totalling at least 45 credit hours.

The Law School electives must include: one course in which there is a written essay worth at least 2 credit weights. They must also include three courses that expose students to the impact of technology on society as well as ethical issues and thought processes in the Humanities and Social Sciences, such as courses in philosophy of law, international law, environmental law, ethics, and accounting. These three courses will be approved for each student by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Law.

Students enrolled in the concurrent program may be eligible in the fifth year for exchange programs offered within either faculty, provided that both program Directors approve.

A student who fails to meet the progression requirements will be required to withdraw from the concurrent program. Students in the concurrent program are considered for the Dean's Honor List in the Faculty in which they are enrolled. In years four, five and six, students must meet the standards of both the Faculty of Engineering Science and the Faculty of Law in order to be on the Dean's Honor List.

Eligibility to graduate with distinction for each degree is determined by each faculty.
