MAJOR IN ECONOMICS


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements, including the following 2.0 courses with an average of 70% and no grade less than 60% in either subject: Economics 020; Mathematics 030 or Calculus 050a/b and 0.5 course from: Calculus 051a/b, 081a/b or Linear Algebra 040a/b.


Module

6.0 courses:

3.5 courses: Economics 210a/b, 220a/b, 221a/b, 222a/b, 223a/b, 260a/b, 261a/b
1.0 course: Economics 320a/b, 382a/b
1.5 additional courses in Economics at the 200 or 300 level

Students who have completed Economics 150a/b, 151a/b, 152a/b, 153a/b with an average of 75% and no grade less than 70% may be admitted to the Major module in Economics and may be exempted from Economics 260a/b, 261a/b, 220a/b or 221a/b, respectively. Students who have completed Economics 122a/b, 123a/b, or 141a/b with no grade less than 70% may be exempted from Economics 222a/b, 223a/b or 210a/b, respectively.

Students enrolled in a major in Economics and a major in Sociology or Health Sciences must replace Economics 222a/b with another 0.5 course at the 200 or 300 level in Economics. Sociology 231 or Health Sciences 201 may be used as a prerequisite for Economics 223a/b.
