    Ensemble: One, or more, of Music 328, 345, 351, 354, 356, 358, 368, 378, 379, 386
    Two senior full-courses or equivalent from the Faculty of Music*
    One full-course or equivalent from a Faculty other than Music
    Two full-courses or equivalent from any Faculty

*Note: Music 324 may not be elected.


Progression Requirements

A student who at the end of an academic year has achieved a weighted average of at least 60% and a passing grade in each course of his or her approved program may progress to the next year.

The Dean may impose special conditions on future registration, or require a student to withdraw from the Faculty of Music, if that student:

  1. fails to achieve the required average, or
  2. fails one or more courses, or
  3. fails to complete all first year requirements by the end of the second year of full-time registration.

A student required to withdraw from the BMusA program shall be required to withdraw from the University unless admitted to the BA (Music) program or to another Faculty.


Graduation Requirements

Satisfactory completion of the required courses of the program, with an overall weighted average of at least 60%.


Students entering after September 2004
Second Year

Ensemble: At least 1.0 course from Music 228, 245, 251, 256, 258, 268, 278, 279, 286
Music 224, 230F/G, 231F/G, 235a/b, 236a/b, 249a/b, 250a/b
1.0 course from the Faculty of Music
1.0 course from a Faculty other than Music


Third Year

Music 375y and Ensemble* (Music 328, 345, 351, 356, 358, 368, 378, 379, 386), or 0.5 music elective
1.5 courses at the 200 level or above from the Faculty of Music
2.0 courses from any Faculty
1.0 course from a Faculty other than Music

*The ensemble requirement becomes an optional elective for those students not registered in Music 375y.


Fourth Year
Music 475y and Ensemble* (Music 428, 445, 451, 456, 458, 468, 478, 479, 486), or 0.5 music elective
1.0 course at the 200 level or above from the Faculty of Music
1.5 courses from the Faculty of Music
1.0 course from any Faculty
1.0 course from a Faculty other than Music

*The ensemble requirement becomes an optional elective for those students not registered in Music 475y.

Note: In the Bachelor of Musical Arts program, no more than 8.0 courses may be numbered 001 to 099.
