Completion of a first year program including: The former Earth Sciences 020 or equivalent (see note) with a mark of at least 60%; Calculus 050a/b plus one of Calculus 051a/b or 081a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026. Physics 020, 024, or 028a/b and 029a/b, or the former Physics 022 or 025 is strongly recommended, and must be completed before third year.

Note: Courses equivalent to the former Earth Sciences 020 are any two of Earth Sciences 081a/b, 083F/G, 281b, or the former Earth Sciences 082a/b, 085a/b.

One full-course option, to attain a total of five and one-half courses.

1.0 first year Physics course (excluding Physics 021) must be completed prior to registration in Year 3. Computer Science 026a/b is a strongly recommended option.

The former Earth Sciences 280 is not acceptable for credit.

The Area of Concentration will consist of the 6.0 senior-level Earth Science courses which are specified in second and third year, plus Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b.

Note: Students with honors standing in second and third years of the program are eligible to enter fourth year Honors Geophysics. Honors standing in second and third years is attained with an average of at least 70% for all area of concentration courses, with no mark in any of them less than 60%.
