A mark of at least 60% in Spanish 030, 030w/x or the former Spanish 002 or 002w/x, or permission of the Department.

After the completion of Spanish 030 or 030w/x the program consists of Spanish 200, 200w/x or 222E; 202F/G, 203F/G, 218F/G, 219F/G, 300 and 2.0 additional courses in Spanish.

Note: With permission of the Dept., Spanish 101 with a final mark of at least 80%, can be counted toward the Three Year B.A. in place of Spanish 218F/G and 219F/G.

Spanish Golden Age Literature: Spanish 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.
Modern Spanish Literature: Spanish 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G, and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.
Spanish-American Literature: Spanish 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, and Spanish 403F/G and 405F/G, if applicable.

Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommend as an option.

Students in Honors Spanish or Combined Honors with Spanish may be able to take their third year at a Spanish university by special arrangement with the Department. Students in combined programs must consult both departments.

First year program with Spanish 030 or 030w/x or the former Spanish 002 or 002w/x plus two others as principal courses. Comparative Literature and Culture 020 is recommended. Students who begin Spanish at University and who desire to enter any honors program, module, or major are strongly urged to take Spanish 200, 200w/x, or 222E (if offered) in Intersession or Summer Session or consult the Department concerning an alternative. Students may also take both Spanish 030w/x and 200w/x in the first year (if offered) and proceed directly to the honors courses in their second year.

After the first year, the program consists of at least 15.0 courses: a minimum of 10.0 Spanish senior courses and 5.0 options. Spanish 200, 200w/x, or 222E; 202F/G, 203F/G, 204F/G, 205F/G, 218F/G, 219F/G, and 300 are mandatory. In addition, 5.0 senior courses in Spanish must be taken, with at least 0.5 course from each of the following four areas:

Medieval Spanish Literature: Spanish 320F/G and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.
Spanish Golden Age Literature: Spanish 321F/G, 323F/G, 324F/G, 326F/G, and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.
Modern Spanish Literature: Spanish 333F/G, 334F/G, 336F/G, 337E, 338F/G and Spanish 402F/G and 404F/G, if applicable.
Spanish-American Literature: Spanish 343F/G, 344F/G, 346F/G, 347E, 348F/G, and Spanish 403F/G and 405F/G, if applicable.

* Students planning to take third year in Spain should defer Spanish 218F/G and 219F/G to the third year of the program.

Approved Combinations: Anthropology, Classical Studies, Comparative Literature and Culture, English, Film Studies, French, Geography, German, Greek, History, Latin, Linguistics, Media, Information and Technoculture, Philosophy, Political Science, Religious Studies, Russian, Sociology, Visual Arts, or Women's Studies.

First year program in Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Science or Social Science, with Geography 020E, Spanish 030 or 030w/x, and one other principal course.

Spanish 200, 200w/x or 222E (if not taken in first year) or Spanish 300; Spanish 218F/G, 219F/G.
Four 200-level Geography half-courses (Geography 220a/b strongly recommended).

Students should ensure that their choice of Spanish courses fulfills the requirements for the Combined Honors Programs with Spanish; i.e. at least 0.5 course in each of the areas of Medieval Spanish Literature, Spanish Golden Age, Modern Spanish and Spanish-American.

One option

Spanish 300 (if not taken in second year), Spanish 202F/G and 203F/G.
Geography 343y, 389a/b, 390a/b and one additional 0.5 course in Geography at the 300-level.

One option

Geography 448a/b and one and one-half 300- or 400-level courses in Geography. Students may choose Geography 490E (thesis) which has a course weight of 1.5. The topic of the research must concern an area in which Spanish is spoken

2.0 senior Spanish courses, with Spanish 343F/G and 344F/G strongly recommended.
