PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY
Physics & Astronomy Building 125 The Department of Physics and Astronomy provides a program leading to a 3-year BSc degree in Physics and a joint program with Fanshawe College that leads to a 3-year BSc in Physics plus a diploma in either Electronics Engineering Technology or Control Engineering Technology. It offers programs leading to 4-year BSc degrees in Honors Astronomy, in Honors Physics, and in Honors Medical Physics. It also participates in joint programs leading to 4-year BSc degrees in Honors Astronomy and Geophysics (Planetary Science), Honors Physics and Geophysics (Atmospheric Physics), and Honors Physics and Computer Science. In collaboration with the Departments of Chemistry and Earth Sciences, it offers a Four-Year BSc degree in Honors Science of Materials. Students intending to pursue honors degrees offered by the department are advised to take Physics 020 or 024. Students entering or continuing in any of the Department's programs are required to consult with the Department for approval of their programs. Note 1: A number of Astronomy and Physics courses have been withdrawn, and new ones have been introduced. Students currently registered in honors programs offered by the department (particularly Honors Astronomy and Honors Astronomy and Geophysics) should consult a departmental counsellor for information on appropriate substitutions for courses no longer offered. Note 2: Courses offered in Odd-Numbered years are taught in those academic years starting in September 2003, 2005, etc., while courses offered in Even-Numbered years are taught in academic years starting in September 2004, 2006, etc.
