Program
After the second year the program consists of the equivalent of eight courses in the Department and a minimum of two options normally, but not necessarily, taken outside the Department; 100-level and 200-level French courses may be chosen as options; however Linguistics courses in other departments are strongly recommended. The required courses are distributed as follows: Language and Linguistics: French 381, 397a/b, 398a/b, and two of: French 476a/b, 477a/b, 478a/b, 479a/b are required. Language and Literature: a minimum of three introductory half-courses in literature preferably taken in third year and selected from French 302F/G, 312F/G, 322F/G, 332F/G, 342F/G, 362F/G, 372F/G, 382F/G, 392F/G; one half-course from French 401F/G, 402F/G 404F/G, 406F/G, 408F/G, 410E, 411a/b, 412F/G, 432a/b, 473a/b, 475a/b, 498F/G. Only students registered at Huron University College may also select French 409E, 416a/b, 474a/b. Only students registered at King's College may also select French 400F/G, 450F/G, 451F/G. Additional 300-level and 400-level French courses offered by the Department to make a total equivalent to eight full courses in third and fourth year French Honors Linguistics and Literature.
Note: Students in French may take their third year at Laval or Nice with the permission of the Department of French. Students in combined programs need the consent of both departments. Some scholarships are available.
