FOUR-YEAR BSc HONORS KINESIOLOGY
The Bachelor of Science Honors Kinesiology program commences at second year. Students must satisfactorily complete a five-course first year program which meets University regulations and includes Kinesiology 080a/b, Kinesiology 088a/b and Physiology 021 or equivalent. To progress to second year, students must obtain an average of at least 70% on the five full courses selected, with no grade lower than 60%. As well, students must achieve a principal course average (Kinesiology 080a/b, Kinesiology 088a/b and Physiology 021 or equivalent plus two Science courses from the list provided below) of at least 70%. Students are advised to review the prerequisites for honors-level (200 and above) science courses to ensure appropriate first year science course selections.
First Year
Kinesiology 080a/b, Kinesiology 088a/b and Physiology 021 (or equivalent). Two full-course equivalents from the following subjects areas: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, as indicated below: Biology 022 or 023; Chemistry 020 or 023; Mathematics 030 or 031 or two of: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b or 081a/b, or Linear Algebra 040a/b; Physics 020, 024, or 028a/b and 029a/b, or the former 022 or 025; two of Computer Science 025a/b, 026a/b, 027a/b One full-course equivalent from the faculties of Arts or Social Science
Second Year
For progression in the honors program each year, students must retain a principal course average of 70% and a minimum of 60% in each principal course selected. Courses selected as subsidiary courses must be passed successfully and average to 60%.
Principal Courses
A total of three and one-half or four full-course equivalent Kinesiology courses to be selected as follows: A minimum of one half-course to a maximum of two half-courses from Kinesiology 222-299.
Subsidiary Courses
- For progression in the honours program each year, students must retain a principal course average of at least 70% and a minmum of 60% in each principal course selected. Courses selected as subsidiary courses must be passed and average to 60% or greater.
- If only one-half course was selected from Kinesiology 222-299 then an additional subsidiary half-course must be selected from outside the School of Kinesiology.
- A minimum of a half course in Statistics is a pre- or co-requisite to Kinesiology 332a/b.
Third Year
Principal Courses
A total of three Kinesiology full-course equivalents to be selected as follows: Kinesiology 332a/b
Subsidiary Courses
One Science full-course equivalent numbered 200 and above One non-Kinesiology full-course equivalent
Fourth Year
