FOUR-YEAR BMSc HONORS BIOCHEMISTRY
Admission Requirements
Completion of the BMSc requirements for years 1 and 2 (Faculty of Science) plus year 3 of the BMSc Honors or General program, or the requirements for the 3 year BSc in Biochemistry and Chemistry, Chemistry, or Biology. The 3 year BSc in Biology must include a full course or equivalent in year 2 Organic Chemistry. Entry requires an overall average of 70% in the last two years, and an average of at least 70% in the five senior Biology, Basic Medical Sciences and/or Chemistry courses, with no mark less than 60% in those five (see CHEMISTRY.) The 3-year program must include the following, with a mark of 70% in each case: - Chemistry 274a plus 284b, or the former Chemistry 224a / 234b, or 254 is recommended, but not required.
- 1.0 or 0.5 course in Statistics is required; normally taken in the second year.
It is recommended that students take the prerequisites in the following order, together with the other courses required in their specific programs

Third year
Biochemistry 380G, 381a, and 382b (formerly Biology 380b, 381a and 382b). The Department of Biochemistry should be consulted by all applicants.

Subsidiary Courses
One course from Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Basic Medical Sciences at the 300 or 400 level with the approval of the Department.
Note: If it has not been taken previously, a half-course in statistics (e.g., Statistical Sciences 222a/b) must be included as one of the above subsidiary courses.
