ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (Admission Requirements)
All students applying for admission whose mother tongue (first language) is not English will be required to write the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the Test of Written English (TWE) or the Internet-Based TOEFL (iBT). The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) test is an acceptable alternative to TOEFL/TWE or iBT. The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) is an acceptable alternative to TOEFL/TWE or iBT. It is the responsibility of the applicant to submit proof of English proficiency, as stated above, to the Admissions Office before an offer of admission can be made. Proficiency in English is required of all students (see also the policy on ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY (for assignment of grades)). TOEFL/TWE and the iBT are offered on several dates in a number of places in Canada, the United States and elsewhere.
