Admission Requirements
First year program, with VAH 040 or the former Visual Arts 040, and four courses from outside the Department, one of which must be from the Faculties of Science or Social Science with no more than two courses from each subject.
Program
After the first year, the program consists of fifteen courses including a minimum of ten Honors Visual Arts courses and a minimum of three options taken outside the Department. Students in the BA in Honors Art History & Criticism who wish to include Visual Arts Studio courses as part of their program should consult the Department. Students are required to take one course at the 020-level in a modern language other than English, or to demonstrate proficiency at that level. The Honors Visual Arts courses must include: A minimum of six 200-level Visual Arts History courses, including one from each of: VAH 247E, 249E. VAH 251E, 253E. VAH 256E, 258E, 261E. VAH 266E, 270E, 276E. VAH 277E, 278E, 283E. VAH 340E One full-course equivalent from: VAH 349F/G, 356F/G, 361F/G, VAS 380E, VAH 390F/G, 391F/G, 392F/G, 393F/G, 394F/G, 395F/G, 396F/G At least one full-course equivalent from: VAH 445F/G, 451F/G, 456F/G, 461F/G, 466F/G, 470F/G, 475F/G, 477F/G, 478F/G, 480F/G, 492F/G, 493F/G, 495F/G, 496F/G. Additional Visual Arts courses at the 200-, 300-, or 400-level to make a total of ten full-course equivalents in Visual Arts.
Note: Students registered in the Bachelor of Arts program in Honors Art History and Criticism prior to September, 1998 may be able to complete the program under the previous regulations. Please consult the Department.
