First year applicants who have completed professional courses or who are enrolled in courses preparing them for professional vocations other than Dentistry must submit with their application a letter giving the appropriate reasons for their desire to enter Dentistry. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the necessary transcripts or reports have been received by the Department of Admissions no later than June 15 for first year or by the Director's Office no later than August 1 for second year. Although the Admissions Committee will act on non-official reports any decisions bearing on acceptance must await receipt of the confirmatory transcripts. Candidates with acceptable standing at accredited degree-granting institutions may be considered for admission provided that the content of studies completed is equivalent in content to the courses offered by Western, and to the requirements of the program to which the student has applied. The university will review other candidates on an individual basis. Admission in all cases is competitive.
