Completion of a first year program that includes the former Earth Sciences 020 or equivalent (see note); Chemistry 020 or 023; Mathematics 030 or any two of the following: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, Mathematics 028a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b; one Arts or Social Science course (Geography 020E is recommended). Students are strongly urged to take Biology 022 or 023 in their first year. A mark of at least 60% is required in all first year Earth Sciences and Chemistry courses taken.

Note:
Courses equivalent to the former Earth Sciences 020 are any two of Earth Sciences 081a/b, 083F/G, 281b, or the former 082a/b, 085a/b; the recommended combination most closely approximating the content of 020 is 082a/b and 085a/b.

Earth Sciences 200a/b, 206a/b, 212a/b or the former 205a, Earth Sciences 240a/b, 250y, 260a/b

Chemistry 272F and 372F/G, or the former Chemistry 322; or two half-courses from Groups E or F; One half-course from Groups A to F (CBE 363a/b or the former Engineering Science 363a/b or a Computer Science course is highly recommended).
For students who completed Biology 022 or Biology 023 in Year 2:
Two senior half-courses from Group E; One half-course from Groups A to F (CBE 363a/b or the former Engineering Science 363a/b or a Computer Science course is highly recommended).

The approved courses for Groups A, B, C, D, E and F are listed in the degree requirements for the BSc Environmental Science.

The Area of Concentration will consist of all courses not designated as options in Years 2 and 3.
