THREE-YEAR BSc GEOLOGY


Admission Requirements

Completion of a first year program including: The former Earth Sciences 020 or equivalent (see note) with a mark of at least 60%; Chemistry 020 or 023; Mathematics 030 or any two of the following: Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, Mathematics 028a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b.

Note: Courses equivalent to the former Earth Sciences 020 are any two of Earth Sciences 081a/b, 083F/G, 281a/b, or the former Earth Sciences 082a/b, 085a/b.


Second Year

One full-course equivalent option, to attain a total of five and one-half courses.


Note

Computer Science 026a/b is a strongly recommended option. The former Earth Sciences 280 is not acceptable for credit in this program.


Third Year

Earth Sciences 310a/b, 313a/b, or the former 312a, Earth Sciences 320a/b, 340a/b, 370a/b
Earth Sciences 314b, 315a/b, 350y, 265a/b, or the former 361a/b
One senior-level full-course equivalent option to attain a total of five and one-half courses.


Notes

The Area of Concentration will consist of the 8.5 senior-level Earth Science courses which are specified in second and third year.

Students with Honors standing in second and third years of the program are eligible to enter fourth year Honors Geology. Honors standing in second and third years is attained with an average of at least 70% for all principal courses (area of concentration courses), with no mark in any of them less than 60%.
