COMBINED HONORS PROGRAMS

Approved Combinations: Anthropology, Classical Studies, Economics, English, Film Studies, French, German, Greek, History, Latin, Linguistics, Media, Information and Technoculture, Political Science, Religious Studies, Russian, Sociology, Spanish, Visual Arts, Comparative Literature and Culture, or Women's Studies. PHILOSOPHY AND MATHEMATICS

For admission, Calculus 050a/b plus 051a/b, or Applied Mathematics 026, or the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or the former Mathematics 027 . One of Philosophy 020E, 021, or 022E is very strongly recommended. After first year, 6.0 Honors Philosophy courses (including at least 3.0 at the 300- or 400- level), 6.0 Honors Mathematics (as principal courses) and 3.0 options are required.


Second Year

* Students who have taken Philosophy 020E need not take Philosophy 200F/G or 201F/G, though they are strongly advised to do so.

Students who have taken Philosophy 022E need not take Philosophy 210F/G or 211F/G, though they are strongly advised to do so.


Third and Fourth Years

Must include Philosophy 222a/b and 322a/b or 451, Mathematics 420a/b and 2.5 additional Honors Mathematics courses chosen in consultation with the Department of Mathematics


PHILOSOPHY AND PSYCHOLOGY
Admission Requirements

First year program in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Science, or Social Science with a 020-level Psychology course and any 2.0 other courses as principal courses. One of Philosophy 020E, 021 or 022E is very strongly recommended. If a 020-level Psychology course was not taken in the first year, a first year Psychology course must be selected as an option in the second year.

Since Psychology 281 (Statistics) is a required course in the Philosophy and Psychology program, students selecting this program are advised to complete the Mathematics prerequisite for Psychology 281 in first year.

1.0 course in mathematics is required. To fulfill the mathematics requirement, you must complete 1.0 course by taking Mathematics 030 or 031 (031 is preferred) or the former Mathematics 027, the former Applied Mathematics 020, or 023a/b plus 024a/b, or by taking two half-courses from among the following courses: Mathematics 012a/b or 017a/b, 028a/b, Calculus 050a/b, 051a/b, 081a/b, Linear Algebra 040a/b, Statistical Sciences 024a/b . If either Mathematics 012a/b or 017a/b is selected, then either Statistical Sciences 024a/b or Mathematics 028a/b must be taken. The combination of Statistical Sciences 024a/b and Mathematics 028a/b is strongly recommended.

Note: Students registered at an Affiliated College who plan to complete an honors degree in Philosophy and Psychology should consult with a Psychology Academic Counsellor prior to registering in this program.


Program

After the first year, this program requires 7.0 Honors Psychology courses, 6.0 Honors Philosophy courses, (including at least 3.0 at the 300- or 400-level), and 2.0 options. Some of the options may be additional Psychology and Philosophy courses, and probably should be in the case of a student contemplating graduate work. The normal load is 5.0 courses per year including at least 2.0 Honors Psychology and 2.0 Honors Philosophy courses. All Honors Psychology and Honors Philosophy courses taken in any year will be considered principal courses.


Second and Third Years
Required Courses

* Students who have taken Philosophy 020E need not take Philosophy 200F/G or 201F/G, though they are strongly advised to do so.

Students who have taken Philosophy 022E need not take Philosophy 210F/G or 211F/G, though they are strongly advised to do so.
