Statistical Sciences 023a/b*
One full course equivalent, chosen from the following: Calculus 050a/b and either Calculus 051a/b (minimum mark of 60%) or Calculus 081a/b (minimum mark of 85%**), or Applied Mathematics 026
Linear Algebra 040a/b*
Any other 0.5 courses


Subsidiary Courses

Two courses (of which at least one full course must be from Arts and Humanities or Social Science)

* If Statistical Sciences 023a/b and Linear Algebra 040a/b are not taken in first year, they must be completed prior to the beginning of third year
** Students who completed Calculus 081a/b prior to September 2003 may enter this program with a minimum mark of 70% in Calculus 081a/b


Second Year
Principal Courses

Actuarial Science 221a/b, 223a, 225a/b
Statistical Sciences 257a
Either Statistical Sciences 259a/b plus 260b or the former 258b
Calculus 280a/b and 281a/b, or equivalent (See Department for equivalents).


Subsidiary Course

One course*

* Must complete Statistical Sciences 023a/b and Linear Algebra 040a/b by the beginning of third year, each with a minimum mark of 60%.

Notes:
  1. Students intending to write the Society of Actuaries professional exams should consider taking Economics 020 and if possible, Economics 150a/b or 152a/b.
  2. Students should consider taking a broad background of subjects as subsidiary courses. Some examples of possible courses are Business 020, 257, Computer Science 026a/b, 027a/b, 031a/b, Differential Equations 215a, Applied Mathematics 261b, 325a/b, Speech 143, and Writing 101F/G.
