FOUR-YEAR BA AND BSc HONORS PROGRAMS
The Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences offers three honors programs: one in Statistics, one in Actuarial Science, and a joint program in Statistics and Actuarial Science. The Department also offers joint and combined honors programs with the departments of Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics and Mathematics (see below). The Actuarial Science program, the joint Statistics and Actuarial Science program, the joint Actuarial Science and Computer Science program, the joint Actuarial Science and Mathematics program, and the joint Actuarial Science with Economics program (with proper choice of optional courses) prepare students to write Associateship examinations of the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society. Further information on these examinations is available from the Department. To qualify for the 4-year BA degree, a student must complete successfully one of these programs. Any of these programs will qualify a student for the 4-year BSc degree, provided the student's program includes at least twelve honors courses offered by the Faculty of Science. Students who entered second or subsequent years of any of these honors programs prior to September 1998 may graduate under the requirements of either the old or the new programs provided they do so no later than the Autumn 2008 convocation.
