BA IN HONORS RELIGIOUS STUDIES
All selection of courses by students in Honors Religious Studies requires written approval of the Religious Studies Department at one of the affiliated colleges and students must consult with one of these departments each year before registration for this purpose. Students who have completed an area of concentration in Religious Studies should consult with the Department regarding a possible crediting of completed courses toward a Diploma in Honors Standing. Students who are currently registered in an area of concentration in Religious Studies and who would like to apply for admission into the Honors Religious Studies program should consult with the Department regarding the possible crediting of completed courses toward an honors degree.
Admission Requirements
A 020-level Religious Studies course with a mark of 60% and two other courses, which will also be counted as principal courses. Religious Studies 027E is recommended, particularly for those pursuing a minor (to be introduced in 2004-05) in Religious Studies (Catholic Studies). The principal courses must all be above 60% and average 70%. All other courses taken must have a passing mark.
Program
After the first year a total of at least nine Honors Religious Studies full-course equivalents and six options is required. Additional Religious Studies courses may be included among the options, but all Honors Religious Studies courses taken will be regarded as principal courses.
Second, Third and Fourth Years
A total of nine Honors Religious Studies full-course equivalents including at least one from each of the following five subject areas: 1) Biblical Studies: Religious Studies 201F/G, 202F/G, 210F/G, 211F/G, 212F/G, 213F/G, 214F/G, 215F/G ; 4) Systematic Theology: Religious Studies 205F/G, 240E, 241E, 242E, the former Religious Studies 243F/G, 244F/G, 245F/G, 246E, 247E, 271F/G, 272F/G, 301F/G ; One historical full-course equivalent from: Religious Studies 205F/G, 271F/G, 250E, 251F/G, 252F/G, 241E, 242E, 244F/G, 247E . (A course taken to fulfil this requirement may not also be used to fulfil the subject area requirement.)
