CERTIFICATE IN GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT STUDIES
An innovative Certificate program offering professionals and volunteers an opportunity to explore cultural, social and personal aspects of death and dying; to gain knowledge and experience in providing support for the terminally ill and the bereaved; and to examine relevant legal and ethical issues. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to palliative care and bereavement support through community-based services. Some courses in this program are offered via the internet. The Certificate in Grief and Bereavement is offered in partnership with King’s University College. All course requirements must be completed within 3 years of acceptance into the program. All students will be admitted to the Certificate in Grief and Bereavment Studies according to the policies and guidelines for admission to the University. Non-UWO students must first apply to The University of Western Ontario through the Ontario University Application Centre in Guelph, Ontario. In addition, prospective students must also complete the application form for the Certificate in Grief and Bereavement Studies provided by The Western Centre for Continuing Studies. Application forms are available through The Western Centre for Continuing Studies. Students who are currently enrolled at UWO are only required to complete The Western Centre for Continuing Studies application form.
