HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN MATERIALS SCIENCE


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses: Physics 020 or 024 or 026 or 028a/b plus 029a/b; Calculus 050a/b, and 051a/b or 081a/b, or Applied mathematics 026; 1.0 course from: Chemistry 020 or 023, or Earth Sciences 022a/b, 023a/b, 081a/b, 083F/G, or the former Earth Science 020, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.

Both Chemistry 020 or 023 and two of Earth Sciences 022a/b, 023a/b, 081a/b, 083F/G, or the former Earth Science 020 are required, but 1.0 of these may be postponed until year two.

4.0 courses from: Astronomy 201a/b; Applied Mathematics 290a, 291b; Biochemistry 280a; Biology 281b, 282b; Calculus 250a/b, 251a/b; Chemistry 211a/b, 214a/b, 223b, 272F, 320a/b, 364a/b; Earth Sciences 206a/b or the former 205a, or Earth Sciences 230b whichever has not been taken, Earth Sciences 444a/b or the former 317a/b, 324a/b, 432a/b; Medical Biophysics 302E; Physics 201a/b, 202a/b, 343a/b
