HONORS SPECIALIZATION IN HISTORY


Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements with no failures. Students must have an average of at least 70% in 3.0 principal courses, including 1.0 course from History 020E, 021E, 025E, 027E, 028E, 029E, or 030E and 2.0 additional courses, with no mark in these principal courses below 60%.


Module

9.0 courses:

2.0 courses: History 234E and 236E
1.0 course from: History 231E, 232E, 233E
2.0 courses in History at the 200 level or above (excluding History 231E, 232E, 233E, 234E and 236E), including Classical Studies 275E
2.0 courses in History at the 300 level or above
2.0 courses in History at the 400 level

* 2.0 of these 3.0 courses must be taken before year 3. The third must be taken before year 4. To be eligible to progress in the Honors History program,70% is required in 2.0 of the mandatory courses (History 234E, 236E and either History 231E or 232E or 233E) and the 3.0 mandatory courses must be completed with an average of at least 70% with no mark less than 60%.

**Students are required to take one course other than History 236E in European or British History (History 227E, 228E, 229E, 237E, 240E, 281E, 304E, 314F/G, 320E, 335E, 337E, 342E, 346E, 356E, 370E, 372E, 412F/G, 419E, 439E, 460E, or other courses on an approved list available from the Department), AND one course in non-European/non-North-American history (History 214E, 220E, 221E, 238E, 311F/G, 312F/G, 323E, 324E, 325E, 348E, 414E, or other courses on an approved list available from the Department). These courses may be included among the appropriate 200-, 300-, or 400-level required courses.
