Students who have completed a first year program in another faculty or program, may apply for admission to the second year of the three-year BA program in MIT provided they:
The selection process for admission or progression to second year of the program is based on a student carrying a full course load, including the MIT first-year prerequisites. Eligibility is determined by a student's overall weighted average obtained at the end of the academic year. In cases where the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces, admission will be competitive. Attainment of the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission.
Students who have completed a first year program in the Faculty of Information and Media Studies, or in the MIT program at an Affiliated College, may apply for progression to the second year of the three-year BA program in MIT provided they:
To progress to the second or third year of the three-year BA in MIT, a student must meet the general University regulations pertaining to the progression requirements for three-year BA programs and must also achieve a minimum overall weighted average of 65.0% in each academic session, with no more than 1.0 unsatisfactory attempt in 5.0 full-course equivalents.
To graduate with a three-year BA in MIT, a student must meet the general University regulations pertaining to graduation requirements for three-year BA programs. A student must also achieve a minimum overall weighted average of 65.0% in the 15.0 courses counted towards the degree. Students must successfully complete all graduation requirements within the first 20.0 courses attempted, including repeated courses.

Students enrolled in the three-year BA in MIT program may, if they wish, substitute up to 1.5 approved full-course equivalents relevant to the study of media, information and technoculture from other disciplines. Such courses must be approved by the MIT Academic Advisor in consultation with the Associate Dean. Examples would include courses on the visual, historical, political and/or soical aspects of media, information technologies and communication, or theoretically-informed courses that are useful to further an understanding of the intersection of media, information technologies and culture. Specific examples of such courses are available from the FIMS Dean's Office.

A student must also achieve a grade point total of twice the number of courses attempted in each academic session, with no more than 1.0
unsatisfactory attempt in 5.0 full-course equivalents.
